Direct beach access
Wake up and go straight onto the sand
This is the appeal that is hardest to replicate. The cottage is not simply near Low Newton beach; it is part of the beach itself. Morning coffee on the terrace can turn into a swim, a castle walk, or a potter along the shoreline within minutes.
For families, that makes the day easier. For walkers and swimmers, it means you can follow the weather and the tide instead of planning around parking or packing up the car.
The setting
The square, the Ship Inn, and the bay
Low Newton-by-the-Sea is one of the most distinctive corners of the Northumberland coast: whitewashed cottages, fishing boats, dunes, birds, and a broad open-ended square facing the sea.
Sutherland Cottage lets you enjoy all of that from the middle of it. The Ship Inn is opposite, the dunes and Newton Pool are close by, and Dunstanburgh Castle makes the walk south feel part of everyday life rather than a special trip.
- Opposite The Ship Inn in the village square
- Easy walk to Embleton Bay and Dunstanburgh Castle
- Ideal for swimming, paddle boarding, surfing, and coastal walking
- A strong year-round base for relaxed Northumberland holidays
